On 28th May 2003 we received outline planning permission for Underbecks. Our architect did a great job to convince the planners that the house would be in keeping with the local vernacular and despite being a modern house would use traditional materials and features.
Externally there are very few differences between the original plans and the final result. Inside, we made a few changes to exploit opportunities or just to change our minds.

We commissioned a photo-montage to assist the planning application:
The fifth bedroom was added when too much spoil was excavated from the site by mistake. This is almost entirely underground and made very little change to the external appearance of the house. Despite this it does have what are described as "sea glimpses" and became the kids bunk room or Quarterberth.
